The alpine tree line is an elevation above which trees cannot grow, generally due to temperature, lack of moisture or prolonged snow. Above the tree line is colder and less sheltered but provides clear views uncluttered by the forest below. Above the Tree Line is intended to provide this view on topics I find interesting.
I recently retired after more than 40 years in the oil industry. I have B.S. and M.S. degrees in Petroleum Engineering and spent most of my career in the drilling business. The last 36 years were with one of the American super majors living and working overseas with assignments in S.E. Asia, the Middle East, West Africa and Europe.
I met my wife, now a naturalized citizen, overseas and our children were born overseas and have several international moves under their belt. Thus, I have some informed perspective on the challenges of expatriate life, immigration in the U.S. and bi-racial families.
I hope to bring an engineer’s rational, logical perspective with years of diverse experience to this blog. I have a range of interests including food, travel, photography and out doors activities. Expect an eclectic range of posts.
